FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Thank you to our main suppliers Regalead and UV Tek for their help in answering these questions
How durable are applied bevels and can they be removed after application ?
How consistent the colour of your films and will they stand the test of time ?
How durable will your self adhesive lead be on external applications on windows and doors ?
Can I have a slight variation on one of your standard designs?
Does the my existing glass have to be replaced or can you decorate directly onto old glass ?
How durable are applied bevels and can they be removed after application ?
We use UV-Tek's UV curing adhesive system to provide a permanent and stable bond for our bevels. This system has exceeded international test demands in the heat of Australia and the rain of England. In a 'flex test' a glass bevel was bonded onto a strip of normal 4mm glass 5cm x 61cm. This glass was then flexed to 12mm before it cracked. The bevel bond was unaffected. The adhesive is invisible and will not breakdown or discolour in a natural everyday environment.
How consistent the colour of your films and will they stand the test of time ?
Our films are specially hand-printed on polyester film to reproduce stained glass effects. This means that just like original stained glass, colour and pattern can naturally vary in the manufacturing process. The correct use of high performance inks in the film provide the product with extremely high colour stability which will not exceed a 10% change in colour density over a 10 year period.
How durable will your self adhesive lead be on external applications on windows and doors ?
The experience of over 20 years suggests that our lead strips when applied firmly to clean glass surfaces will give many years of service.
Is your product limited to windows and doors only ?
No, definitely not. Our product can be used single glazed to refresh existing door and windows, for interior doors or room dividers. It can be used in kitchen cabinets and sideboards, even shower screens.
Simply with a soft cloth and soapy water. Never use abrasive products, chemical or alcohol based cleaners
Can I have a slight variation on one of your standard designs ?
Yes. We have a vast range of films available for you to choose from in many different colours, textures and effects.
How obscure is your decorative glass ?
It can be as obscure or as clear as you wish. Choosing textured films will increase obscurity and in some circumstances we can decorate directly onto an obscure glass.
How safe and secure is your decorative glass ?
We use 4mm clear glass as
standard from Saint Gobain, Pilkington or Glaverbel. If safety and security is
an issue, we can often decorate on toughened or laminated
glass. This should be carefully considered
especially when replacing glass in doors, low level glazing and especially glass ceilings
Can your
decorative materials be applied to the new self cleaning glasses being offered
by Saint Gobain and Pilkington ?
Yes, our materials are compatible with the new self cleaning glasses.
Does the my existing glass have to be replaced or can you decorate directly onto old glass ?
